About our Houses

The House system (introduced September 2016) with Houses named after women who changed the world will help support and maintain the school community as the school grows. The Houses are Austen, Curie, Frank, Johnson and Parks.

All students join a House at the start of their time at Montpelier High School.  Students in Years 7-11 are overseen by their Tutor and Head of Year. Tutors and Heads of Year will be the main point of contact for a parent wishing to discuss the progress of their daughter.  All tutor groups are year based but the House system allows for vertical mentoring and buddying.  We also have Assistant Heads of Year and our Wellbeing officer to support students with pastoral care.

Each House has a House Leadership team made up of Year 10 and 11 students. The Sixth Form Head Student Team work closely with these leaders. The House team are also supported by leadership roles in each tutor group so that younger students can also take a lead.

All students are actively encouraged to organise their own charity events and students regularly present in assembly.

We have a strong competition structure that is directly linked to our Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Curiosity). Competitions take place every half term and incorporate a very wide range of interests. In addition students can earn House Points for each Core Value. Individuals and Houses are rewarded for having a high number of House Points via Head of House Awards, celebration events and reward trips.

Contact details for our Heads of Year Teams and other key staff can be found here.
